ReqIF2Excel

ReqIF2Excel — ReqIF / ReqIFz to Excel

ReqIF2Excel converts a ReqIF (.reqif) or ReqIFz (.reqifz) requirements export into an Excel workbook without losing a single image or attachment. It is a free, MIT-licensed requirements-engineering tool that runs on Windows and Linux.

Every picture, OLE object and attached file referenced from a requirement’s rich text is:

  1. shown on the requirement’s own row (when Excel can display the format),
  2. marked in place inside the requirement text — [IMG 1: diagram.png] sits exactly where the picture sat in the original sentence,
  3. saved into a folder next to the workbook, and
  4. traced on an Attachments sheet that ties each file back to its owning requirement (ReqIF id, foreign id, sheet, row, attribute, size, SHA-256).

Anything that cannot be resolved is reported as a visible MISSING marker plus an error on the Summary sheet. Files that sit in the archive but are referenced by no requirement are extracted too and listed as unreferenced. Nothing is dropped silently.

The converter is tool-agnostic: it matches XML by local name, so IBM DOORS classic, DOORS Next, Codebeamer, Polarion, Enterprise Architect and generic ReqIF 1.0–1.2 exports are all read the same way.
